The Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue, Inc. (MVSAR) is a non-profit, volunteer organization based in Las Cruces, NM, whose purpose is to search for and rescue lost individuals in a variety of settings.
There are several different specialized teams within MVSAR, including the Ground Team, the Dog Team, the ATV Team, the Communications Team, and the newly formed Drone Team. Each of these teams is comprised of individuals with specific skills and training required for a variety of different search scenarios.
MVSAR meets the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. for about an hour and a half and has team trainings on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. to hone various SAR skills utilizing:

Search Scenarios
Teams within MVSAR put in more training hours on top of the monthly team trainings. The Dog Team trains every Sunday morning year round. Training logs are kept by MVSAR’s Training Director, the training hours are submitted to the State of New Mexico. Team members need to become field certified within a year of joining team.
